The Friar – the one who legend says never got a yes

Planning a trip to see the Geirangerfjord? Then you probably want to see all the famous waterfalls and natural vistas. We’d guess you’ll probably have the well-known ‘Friaren’ waterfall on your list of attractions you’ll see. This waterfall is located on the other side of the fjord of the seven waterfalls known as the “Seven Sisters”. From a distance the seven waterfalls form the image of the hair of seven females. According to legend, the “Friar” is said to have attempted countless courtship attempts but was rebuffed and can only view the sisters from a distance. The waterfall itself forms what resembles the shape of a bottle, which is said to have been what the suitor turned to for comfort.

Get close to beautiful nature

Although the suitor in the legend was repeatedly refused, both the suitor and the sisters are still in the same place. They are strikingly beautiful as the water free falls down the mountainside. Naturally, the best way to see these waterfalls is from a boat. With a RIB boat you retain the natural atmosphere, while sitting safely led by a skilled guide. You get proximity to the sea combined with safe sea practices. Here you get to see the waterfalls up close and feel the sea spray on your face.
